It’s National Recycling Week 2017 and we’re proud to share that Danihers Facility Management has joined TAKE2 and pledged to reduce our impact on the environment.
TAKE2 is Victoria’s collective pledge initiative to take action on climate change to help Victoria reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
At Danihers, we aim to be a leader within our industry and to be so we need to take action, no matter how small.
We are committed to doing our part to help mitigate the effects of climate change, which is why we’ve pledged to reduce energy and water consumption at our offices and work sites, as well as working closely with clients and suppliers to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
In 2011 Australia’s carbon footprint was ranked 12th in the world by Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), despite our country’s considerably small population. As the world continues to grow and develop new innovations and technologies the risk of climate change increases; rising temperatures and sea levels pose a real and dangerous threat to our country’s ecosystems.
While it doesn’t sound like much, a 1°C increase in temperature could have a dramatic effect on the climatic habitats of native animals, contribute to reduced rainfall, and even increase the number of heat related deaths for elderly citizens due to frequent heatwaves.
Recycling is a sure fire way to reduce climate change and it’s a great place to start around your site. Recycling reduces greenhouse gas emissions from landfill, can reduce deforestation, saves energy and produces more energy-efficient products.
Join us and be part of the community of schools and businesses pledging to keep temperature rise below two degrees!
