Hume Anglican Grammar | Wellbeing & Sensory Garden Projects

For Danihers effective facilities management is about much more than maintaining buildings and grounds. It is about becoming a genuine partner to our clients, understanding what their communities need and working collaboratively to turn those needs into practical, achievable solutions.

Our work with Hume Anglican Grammar across the Freier (Mt Ridley) and Donnybrook campuses demonstrates this partnership approach in action.

When opportunities were identified to create new wellbeing and sensory garden spaces, our team worked directly with school leadership, teachers and students to understand what they wanted from the spaces. We then helped translate those ideas into designs, practical solutions and costings that the school could confidently consider and progress.

Listening first, then developing the solution

At the Freier Campus, Hume Anglican Grammar approached Danihers to explore the creation of a Wellbeing Garden behind the Coach House.

Rather than simply presenting the school with a finished concept, we started by listening.

Turning stakeholder ideas into practical outcomes

Initial sketches were developed into a landscaping concept, with teachers and students then invited to contribute their ideas and priorities. Their feedback helped shape a space focused on wellbeing.

An important part of our role is bridging the gap between an idea and a deliverable project.

Danihers worked with the school and landscaping specialists to assess stakeholder ideas, develop the design, consider practical requirements and provide solutions and costings.

The concept sketches give the school a clearer understanding of what can be achieved, what is involved and how ideas can be delivered within operational and budget considerations.

At Donnybrook, this approach was taken a step further by involving primary students directly in the development of the Sensory Garden.

Students created drawings showing what they would like to see in their new garden. These ideas became part of the consultation process and helped inform a design that was subsequently developed and accepted by the school.

A facilities partner invested in the school community

The scope was also expanded to incorporate approximately 500 sqm of synthetic turf, providing an additional practical and versatile outdoor space

What makes these projects significant is not simply the finished gardens. It is how they were developed.

Our on-site teams know the campuses, understand the school’s operational requirements and have established relationships with the people who use these environments every day. That puts us in a position to listen to ideas, identify opportunities and bring the right people together to develop workable solutions.

From stakeholder consultation and initial sketches through to design development, costings and hands-on delivery, Danihers helps turn ideas into outcomes.

It is an approach built around partnership rather than simply service delivery.

By involving students, teachers, school leaders, specialists and our on-site teams, we can create solutions that respond to real needs, provide genuine value and make a lasting difference to the school community.
